A very warm welcome from the Year 6 team
Class Teacher: Mrs Theresa McDonagh
and Mrs Efstratiou
Mrs McDonagh is the Year 6 class teacher and is supported by Mrs Efstratiou, our Higher Level Teaching Assistant, who will also be teaching the children at times on Thursdays and Fridays.
On Fridays, while Mrs McDonagh participates in leadership time, the class will be taught by other members of staff for subjects such as art, PE and reading: this approach not only allows the children to benefit from a range of teaching expertise, but also helps them to begin preparing for the transition to secondary school, where they will experience learning with a variety of teachers and subjects. We are incredibly lucky to benefit from all our specialist teachers.
Throughout the year, there will be the chance to visit local secondary schools, giving our pupils a real sense of the opportunities and experiences to come. Before the significant transition from primary to secondary, there will be many opportunities across the year to enjoy: sports tournaments, musical opportunities, class masses, class assembly, Christmas reflection, Bikeability, trips and the much-anticipated residential trip to North Devon during the summer term, where the children enjoy new adventures, build independence, and create lasting memories with their friends.
“Blessed are those who trust in the Lord
and whose hope is the Lord.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that spreads out its roots to the stream.”
Jeremiah 17:7-8
